the Yes / No leaves no alternative, it is durable if it is handled carefully, I only recommend it as an activity and learning to be gentle, it is entertaining and educational. I am extremely disappointed either with Meccano or this particular set, it is probably 70% plastic, the metal parts are extremely thin although they do the job. I had Meccano when I was young and built so many things, there were no specific kits and just my imagination and no plastic parts, the flexible pieces were thin metal stampings that could be used many times. About 25 years ago I bought my son 2 basic sets and the only plastic bits were the clear pieces, some gears and wheel hubs, now I am told all the plastic parts are common.
