I was after a cheap guitar to modify and didn't want to pay big bucks. I've bought other "Artist" branded guitars before and generally find them well built, especially for the price. These "look" close enough to the big G and for me, right colour. Out of the box, the thing plays great. Actions good, truss rod adjusted, nut height good and no fret sprout or sharp fret ends - which makes it a great 1st guitar (especially for the price). Even the strings on it are acceptable. The black finish is flawless and looks good with the cream and silver hardware (very 70's inspired). My only grip is the pickups squeal a bit at higher volumes (not a deal breaker - just have to turn down to 7-8). I've bought more expensive guitars that squealed more than this). Overall, I feel it's a great first guitar for someone learning. Also comes with a tuner, decent bag and spare set of strings to keep you going. As an intermediate guitar, it plays and sounds great. And if you want a great starting base for a project guitar, I wouldn't hesitate buying another (in fact, I am).Read full review

I went for the cherry sunburst color and it has a quality feel and looks awesome. It sounds great although I'm no expert but my first ever guitar sounded flat and monotone, now a re-beginner 20 years later but I can say this guitar has a rich melodic tone and day one with it so far my fingers are playing with ease. I would recommend anyone thinking of taking up guitar to get this Artist LP60.

Great value at this price point. The general build quality and finish is above my expectation and on par with more expensive brands. Other than the normal fine tuning setup work required with all guitars, this one just needs extra attention to the nut to correct the action on the lower fret. Not a big deal at all, just needs a file down. Overall i am very happy with this purchase.

For a beginner you want an instrument you can play straight out of the box, if you are more experienced you can lower the action, change the tuners and pot's, other hardware, pickups of choice etc. either way you have a great gig-able instrument to start from. Well fretted, and although you definitely need to lubricate the (ABS?) nut, it is cut perfectly along with the frets on a well adjusted Plek machine. I have around 40 yrs experience playing and working on guitars, this was my 2nd recent attempt to buy a usable beginners instrument, the first was a brand name I thought were reliable, an Epi SL, and let's just say there is no comparison, the Artist is a fine guitar, the Epi belongs in the trash.

Very well built guitar for the price. For a beginner, this is a great value guitar, set neck, sturdy hardware , good set up straight out of the box, Wilkinson pickups. You would struggle to find a better guitar of this style in this price range or even costing twice as much.

Well made, good fit and finish but dull lifeless Wilkinson pickups. I probably won't keep it.
