The Maxim KitchenPro Twin Portable Hotplate is ideal for garden entertaining or mobile catering. It operates with a 2400W motor and has two hotplate rings: one measuring 15.5cm in diameter and the other with a diameter of 18.5cm. The hotplate is made of easy-to-clean polished stainless steel while the heating elements are made of black durable die-cast iron. Other features include thermostatic control and an automatic safety shut-off.

Works well, we bought this to replace a Tiffany that lasted 7 years. I hope this lasts as long! There's an ugly screw head at the upper rear of unit that makes the cooker look a little unfinished. Manufacturer could have devised a hidden clip but I'm just being picky. Very compact unit, fits in tight places, ideal for caravan or spare kitchen cooker when the gas runs out.

Maybe I just got a bad one! Previous unit lasted about two years before packing it in!
The cover plates on control knobs were loose in the box and won’t stay in they just fall out if inserted in centre of the knob but this does not effect the operation of the unit. The left knob is quite firm to turn I have only used the bigger plate on the left a few times however the no’s on the knob have almost worn off and I have only ever wiped the unit with a damp sponge at this stage. I have not needed to use any spray cleaners as I have not used it much yet ! I did have one of these units previously for a couple of years before the large plate went just recently which is why I had no problem ordering the same brand as for the cost I had been fairly happy with my original purchase but not looking to good so far with this unit as I will have to guess heating because I can’t see the no’s on dial anymore!Read full review

Reasonable cheap buy
A good buy for 46 dollars, that is what I paid for it. However heat is unevenly distributed across hot plates. For example using an infra red thermometer, the upper part of the hot plate differed to the lower portion by a factor of 150 degrees on medium setting, much greater on higher temperatures. Even cooking would be difficult, if you don't frequently move the food.

Works well, longevity unknown though
Didn't get a lot of time to test, but used 3 times and worked just fine. It's for a holiday unit. Heated well and cooked various dishes without any issue, but quality of cooker feels quite tinny so time will tell if it lasts long. Fingers crossed!
