I watched the film once before and I love the story line about a boy and his parents coming together at the end. Robin Williams plays one of his dark characters and the young boy was portrayed with great skills. I would have liked a better closure for the family story line to make the film memorable. The price for the DVD was great, the musical contrasts between mom, dad and the conductor makes for easy viewing.

The product had freezing issues at the beginning of the video. But we kept restarting it. It finally kept playing until the end of the video. I tried it on two different DVD plays and they each had issues playing it continuously without it freezing. Please check your product to make sure it plays on the DVD player before shipping. Thank you.

I love this story on the power of love, music, and hope. Against impossible odds, the journey this boy takes with his draw to anything musical leads him to family and a bright future.

August Rush is a movie that draws you into the world of a young boy who is given up at birth, due to circumstances that you will learn through viewing the movie. He lives in the system for awhile until one day he leaves and embarks on a journey to find his parents. And, along the way, he discovers that the music he hears inside himself and within the world around him is a true gift! He knows that his parents are out there in the world somewhere and by creating/composing/playing music he will, one day find them. He can feel it in his heart. August finds a friend who takes him to stay in an abandoned theatre. The man (Robin Williams) who keeps watch over and 'takes care of' the children who live there, by having them play music and earn money. There are a few frightening scenes (not suitable for younger children, unless an adult is watching with them to explain what is going on, and why August is being treated that way). You will want to see this to understand the entire storyline. Toward the end of the movie, August directs a symphony [that he composed at Juliard School of Music] in the park, and his parents come forward to see him. August knows that these must be his parents, but the audience is left to figure this out for themselves. It ends with August smiling, and these two people holding hands and smiling back at him. A must see for anyone who enjoys music and a happy ending.Read full review
The acting is fantastic. Robin Williams plays a terrific role; he's such a versatile actor. His character is dark, yet at times, inspiring. Freddie Highmore is truly amazing. You fall in love with his character. You want to believe this "fairy-tale" of love, romance, family, and deep connection of human emotion can exist, and that this story could happen in the real world. Jonathan Rhys Myers and Keri Russell spend one night together and spend their lives apart, both knowing that they had met each other's soulmate, and that they were meant to be together. This is a must-see, feel-good movie. It will make you laugh, cry, and celebrate life, love, and family. The soundtrack is equally as fantastic.
