I bought this DVD just to view it and because I have most of the rest of THE AVENGERS TV episodes. Great production values in the film, but no one wore a bowler hat as good as Patrick MacNee ... and Diana Rigg is the one and only "Mrs. Emma Peel". The interaction between the main characters just doesn't compare to those performances in 1965-1967 of the icons.

The Avengers (1999) - not to be confused with Marvels 'The Avengers' of course - is a good film. It helps a bit if you are familiar with the original series from the 1960's, but overall it's just good, old-fashioned fun - with a good twist of 'British' comedy! It is of course, also interesting to see Ralph Fiennes in a very different role to Voldemort (from Harry Potter) as well. Nice also for Patrick Macnee (from the original 1960's series) to make a cameo - even if you don't quite 'see' him! Recommended if you prefer action that's not too over the top.
