Overall it's built well enough and sounds good. With a fresh battery the tone is fine for fingers, pick or slap. As the battery dies, the tone becomes dull, and only slapping it hard gets some lively sound out. The fader knob provides a seamless blend from one pickup to the other, which is an awesome feature. The tone knobs have boost + cut; the treble works well, the bass not so much. On mine, the neck and bridge are aligned, but 3mm to the left of centre, so not quite centred above the pickups. The bridge is a few mm too close to the neck, so I can't move the E string saddle back enough for perfect intonation. Probably no-one would notice or hear these defects. After a few months, I decided to replace the pickups and wire in a passive circuit; no battery. This required drilling, chiselling, soldering, designing a custom circuit, and the new pickups + tone pots. Not for everyone. Loving the end result now (pictured). Out of the box it's an OK bass and fine for home playing. With upgraded components it's as good as basses that cost 3 times as much.Read full review
