This charger provides an excellent insight into the condition of the battery being charged. You know straight away if it should be discarded and replaced with good battery. It minimizes charge time for each individual battery and is a real time saver. You can keep a record of each battery charge time and mAh charge so you can discard under performing batteries. I would think the precise charging current and voltage would have to increase the charge cycle count and mAh storage capacity of the batteries compared to on board chargers. I have only used this charger for Li-ion batteries and can confidently say is the best Li-ion charger I have used by far.

I own and love my nitecor D4. But if you can afford a little more buy this upgraded SC4 its so much more powerful. I like how it lets you know the internal resistance of the battery so you might want to throw it away if you need to rely on it. It also adds a usb outlet but were disappointing you could not use it as a power-bank. Build quality looks excellent.
