Works very well, comparable to Canon lenses. One lens covers the range of the 2 Canon lenses. The Sigma is great value for money. Very happy with Sigma purchases. Much less cost than comparable focal length other lenses.

The lens is good all round lens although sharpness falls off a bit on the higher end of the zoom range and the lens tends to extend a bit when pointing down. Focusing is good but manual focusing is tricky with such a small rotation. I found F6 - 8 gave about the best over all definition

A versatile lens especially if you do a range of photography. I used to have to carry two different lenses when I travelled one telefoto and one for wider angles. But this lens had addressed my complete range of needs. At full zoom, good lighting is needed and hence night shots are not for this purpose. but at 72mm it gives very good quality shots in good lighting conditions.
The lens is very easy to use, it is the same type of control as the Canon lens, I am a amateur photographer still playing with the lens.

Lens does not fit all Canon DSLR models - only works on models with standard sensor. Auto focus motor is very noisy, and "clunky" I had to purchase a replacement for this to work on my 1D and bought a Tamaron 18-200 which worked much better, was quieter and less clunky. I also bought a Canon 28-135 which was a much better option overall, it virtually silent and much smoother than both of the others. Although the sigm does take a nice photo on a 1000D, the vignetting on the 1D is just too disappointing. It may be considerably cheaper than a genuine Canon lens but overall a disappointing alliterative. I'll save up for Canon in future.

Having checked out the Canon, the Tamron and the Sigma I have found the Sigma feels superior to the other two. The only thing I'm not sure about is the OS lens inside as it seems to move from vertical to horizontal shots slightly. But great aftersales service and talking to a tech expert on this lens has helped greatly. Superior quality compared to the other lenses in clarity and construction.
I got this because I was sick of changing lens all the time. The macro on this lens is incredible at full 250mm it can focus on things so close. The F/6.3 at 250mm makes it a little bit slow but its a trade off. The convenience of this all in one lens out weighs slight slowness at long focal lengths. I used this to replace the Cannon kit lenses 18-55 & 75-300 and its much better then those. Great value for money lens.
I took a few pictures with my old Sigma lens without OS and then took the pictures again with my new lens and the improvement was staggering. Just fantastic!
