This holder was very well priced, well built, neat welds and fit a 4.5KG bottle well. The steel is 30mm x 2.5 or 3mm (hard to tell with galvanising). The "legs" up to the ring was a little out of square, however nothing I couldn't fix with a bit of persuasion with a rubber mallet. Overall a well priced good bit of kit that will perform admirably, I am sure. If it doesn't, I am sure it will make for an interesting campfire story when a fully loaded gas bottle drops off the van at 100 kays/hour going down the Hume.

The holders are a bit flimsy on their own, which didn’t really matter in my case because I weld them to supports anyway. The strap wouldn’t do up around my Companion bottles. I had to swap the threaded loops with the ones off my old gas bottles. Annoying! The galvanising job was pretty ordinary.

The product design is good unfortunately the quality control at manufacture is not. I was able to repair the faults. The clamp ring was twisted and did not line up at the clamp. The clamp would not clip over the tongue for locking, the tongue had to be bent outwards. Obviously the product had not been inspected at manufacture or dispatch. Not major problems and most people with mechanical aptitude and tools at hand would be able to adjust it.

I looked locally and couldn’t find anything like this so thought I would give it a go.... Very light materials to be expected, fits a 9kg gas bottle! Nope.... maybe a random other countries version of a 9kg but certainly not and Australian sized or type one.

It is very cheaply made. Examples: The bolt that is used as a hinge is to small and allows the hinged section to flop around. The clamp on the hinged section is incorrectly attached and does not close properly. There is a weld on the underneath side that will not the cradle to sit flat on the surface unless you grind the weld off, removing the gal coating which will allow it to rust. NOT IMPRESSED.
