Stainless steel is great. This replaced one just like it but with plastic housing that I had for 9 years. Replaced the rechargeable batteries once. The plastic on the old one started breaking down and the opener was always sticky. After having it a month, have realized that this opener is weak compared to my previous opener and this one struggles with some corks. It opens them now, but as the batteries get older I doubt it will.

The product is mostly for home use on a bottle or two at a time. If you are interested in a wine opener for a large number of wine bottles at one time, this product is not what you are looking for. After 8 hours of charging it loses steam after about 30 bottles. In addition beware if corks are dry because this will shed them and even possibly leave them in the plastic cylinder. Also not for carrying around. It is quite heavy and bulky. Basically a home novelty.

This is a very clever, well-executed product at an unbelievable price. It's also cool to watch in action! Owner of almost every type of corkscrew, mostly by gift and largely unused, wedded to the good ol' standard waiter's model, I viewed this with great skepticism when I received it as a gift. The skepticism left home after about 4 passes with this thing. It's now my first choice and I have bought several to give as gifts. The foil cutter is the best I have ever used, bar none. The device's durability remains to be seen, but at the price NBD if it's short (but not too short) -lived. I also have not used it on older bottles with suspect corks, will probably continue with the "Ah-So" for those, but this is a must-have.

This is a very handy ,now I can open my wine without hollering for my husband.and when I reverse it the cork just falls off the opener and I love that.i always had a problem getting the cork back off the opener,no problem now,just reverse it and the cork just falls off.So easy to use,but I'm going to have to buy another one for the trailer.i do recommend it.

This is the third electric wine opener that I've bought. They only last a couple of years. This one recharges with a USB cable. I prefer the one that plugs into the wall and has its own stand. This one also doesn't seem as sturdy as my old one. I've only used this one once so I can't say how well it's going to stand up. I do like it though and will probably buy another one when this one wears out.
