Ordered this to replace an old brass bodied mortice lock, the dimensions were near perfect and it did just fit in the hole the old lock came out of. The only thing that was misaligned was the dead bolt portion, I ould have jiggled the lock up the 3mm needed but instead cut the joining piece out of the striker plate. The plate on the face of the lock body was 3mm thick - very solid, but the old one was about 1.2mm, since the gap between the door and the jamb is about 6mm I left it as was - plenty of room. If it was a finer gap I would have recessed the mortice in a little more
