This book arrived faster than expected. I formerly owned a copy of this exact book and had donated it after my own boys outgrew it. Then, I gained another set of children and the need for the classic set of stories that I had loved as a child. I found this copy on ebay and purchased it for a reasonable price. There was no dust cover, but that was fine. The original gift inscription was in the inside and I thought that made it quite magical. Made me recall my own original copy that had been given to my son, 20 some years before. The book is perfect and the artwork is timeless. We are once again enjoying Mrs. Potter's tales of her forest friends.

After watching Miss Potter, the movie about her life, I fell in love with these stories all over again. They are wonderful tales for small children and make perfect bedtime stories -- not too long, but enough to satisfy little listeners. This collection has the original stories as Potter wrote them with her own illustrations. They are not the watered down drivel you see so often today. They are also printed in the order of the original books so that you read them in the sequence the author intended. My children love this book. It is a pretty enough volume to make a hand me down keepsake for grandchildren yet to come. I hope you enjoy it as much as we have!

I had forgotten how enchanting these stories were until I saw this book for sale. I remember hearing them read to me in the first grade. I'm 59 yo old now. I don't think stories are written now to the same high quality as they were years ago. These stories are clean and with no political objective. Now I am reading these stories to my grandchildren and they listen with the same attention and enchantment as I remember. These little childrens stories come highly recommended. I also recommend stories by Helen Bannerman and Georges Duplaix if you can find them.
I am from N.H. , the landscape lend itself very well to the description of the world of Beatrix Potter ! My children grew up on these books and often times while out in the garden , their imaginations got the better of them...they often spotted Peter and the other characters from the books. The books are so much fun ! From the oldest down to the youngest they all fell under the spell of these wonderful stories ! I believe these books should be part of every one's childhood experience !!! My children are now grown with children of their own. The Complete Tails of Beatrix Potter was a must have in their own children's library ! I've never met a child who wasn't enthralled by these stories !!
