I had a bottle of Chanel No 5 bought in the UK in 1986. I always kept it as my favourite and of course over the years (keeping it in the box, so in the dark it lasted) it dwindled to practically nothing. Initially I thought I'd buy a less expensive perfume and they were very nice but just not up to the standard of my No 5. Well a month ago I came across the bottle that was empty that I just couldn't part with lol but there was no kidding myself IT WAS EMPTY and had been for a few years. I finally decided that when my partner asked me what was my favourite perfume I told him and also that I was going to get another bottle. I am so glad I did. I had forgotten just how lovely it is and just one quick spray behind my ears has lasted all day, I put it on this morning at 7.30am and sitting here now at nearly 3.00pm I can still smell it and its beautiful, not overpowering like some perfume just this superb scent that evokes lots of memories for me. How disappointing. I bought this on behalf of my dad for his girlfriend (the first woman he has dated since mum's passing) and it had no fragrance. Not only was the product poor but it caused my dad an immense amount of embarrassment. Very disappointing!

Over a couple of months of joining eBay, I practiced buying online with the purchase of many perfume items. It never came to my mind that you can be cheated by buying fakes. Two expensive items were fakes. I bought ladies perfume to give as gifts to friends. One of the fakes was intended to be given to my mother around mothers day ! Now when I bought chanel no 5 around the same time,i am afraid that it also might be a fake ! So, I am still holding to this item afraid to pass it on to someone if fake. I do not know what to say whether like it or not, but one thing for sure I am never again buying perfume on line. They might put a genuine photo in the ad but send you fakes later ! I hold eBay responsible and accountable for all the fraud taking place hurting the innocent buyers whom left to run around to claim back their money and to be put through the ordeal of proving something is fake ! Much more needs to be done by eBay to ascertain products on their web and clean up all this mess of fakes so that people can feel save using their web when purchasing.Read full review
It's simply not the No.5 I remember. It was a fave fragrance if mine and very distinctive and long lasting. I still have a small amount of No 5 EDT from a few years ago and the fragrances do not compare.
