About

I m a private seller with interests in retro and modern computer technology. Most of the stuff I sell is acquired old tech (both retro and recent) that I don t want to see go into the bin, and every so often some car related stuff goes up too.

Magewell USB Capture HDMI Gen 2
19 February 2018
Brilliant 2K HDMI UVC USB capture unit
The Magewell device is the real deal - absolutely pixel-perfect capture of an HDMI source (a Sony mirrorless camera's HDMI output in my case with Open Broadcaster Software on Linux to perform live HD streaming with). Being a UVC device, it means that you don't need dedicated drivers and this makes it platform agnostic. Use it on Linux, Android, iOS, MacOS, Windows, or even your pet cat (OK, maybe not your pet cat). Any software that can utilise the UVC standard can now receive a digital video or audio stream from the Magewell. Pipe it into Cheese, or Google Hangouts, or Skype, etc! The primary benefit of this unit over the cheaper units is that the processing is done onboard, including scaling of the input signal into a lower one, such as 1080p to 720p, or whatever your requirement. The cheaper units will capture the 1080p signal with no problem as well, but any additional processing such as scaling down to 720p will be done on your PC instead, taking away valuable CPU cycles to spend on encoding video if you are live streaming etc. On day-long streaming, the Magewell unit can get a little hot, but not burningly so. The unit is straight-forward to setup and nothing needs to be configured, Plug it in, choose the video and audio sources in your capture software (OBS in my case), connect your camera/console and capture/stream away. When there is no device plugged into the Magewell, it will generate a "NO SIGNAL" multi-colour test card signal, so your capture software will never be without signal and makes it good for testing your setup without going to the extra effort of actually setting up a camera. The unit comes in a nice box with the unit and a 40cm USB 3.0 cable, and a small pamphlet of instructions. The unit has two LED lights on it for "status" and "power". The unit does not have HDMI-through so you will need to connect an HDMI splitter before it if you need to connect something else at the same time. Highly recommended.
NEW Black 10pcs 5V Electromagnetic Piezo Buzzer Continous Sound Beep Alarm 85dB

It goes BUZZ! Need I say more?
Not much to say about this - it's a piezo buzzer! You hook it up and it makes noises! =) Bought these to add a faux floppy drive stepper motor sound to my Gotek floppy drives. They are nice and loud, and work very well.

5KG weights
Bought these to weigh down some speaker stands. They do the job well and appear to be well built.
