FAQs

Retail promotions are discount coupons codes run by eBay that encourage buyers to purchase eligible products. Participating in retail promotions allows sellers to showcase items, attract more buyers and drive higher sales.

To participate in these promotions requires an invitation from eBay. If you would like to participate, please submit your interest to the email [email protected]

Depending on the promotion, it may be on an item level, as chosen by eBay. Otherwise, it could be a storewide promotion, meaning it applies to all your live listings. Paused listings will not be included in any promotion. Please read your contract carefully to determine what type of promotion you have been invited to.

eBay will contribute the agreed co-investment towards the discount on all relevant listings. Larger discounts are usually given to eBay Plus members, with eBay funding any additional costs as a result.

Shipping costs are not discounted, only the listing price.

eBay markets items in these promotions in a variety of ways including web banners and emails in search. Additionally, once a listing is clicked, the buyer can see that a coupon code is available to use, for a discount. A discount is only applied when the coupon is used.

We strongly encourage you to opt-in to receiving marketing emails from eBay. By doing this, you will receive email communications about the latest promotions you can participate in. Each email contains instructions on how you can join the promotion.

Alternatively, you can log in to the Seller Portal to view and accept your contract.

When you make a sale during the promotion, we will pay you the total merchandise value (listing price) in real time minus any final value fees and promoted listing fees. Our finance team will then run billing around 30-40 days after the promotion ends (after all cancellations and returns have occurred) and will calculate how much you owe for your portion of the promotion. Once they have calculated this, eBay will charge this amount (as a lump sum) to your eBay account. This will appear on your transaction reports as an ‘adjustment fee’, in the payments tab on the Seller Hub.
